What We Can Fix Across Norfolk

Oil tanks and their associated pipework suffer wear over time. Valves and gauges fail, oil lines develop leaks, and water or sludge can accumulate in the tank, causing boiler problems or complete system failure. Early intervention is far less costly than emergency repairs.

MPD Tanks provides oil tank maintenance throughout Norfolk, including Norwich, King’s Lynn, Great Yarmouth, Dereham and all surrounding areas. All our engineers are OFTEC registered.

Our Maintenance Services

01

Valve & Gauge Replacement

Faulty or seized valves and inaccurate gauges are safety hazards. We replace single and bunded oil tank valves and gauges with quality fittings.

02

Water & Contamination Removal

Water enters tanks through condensation and poor seals. We pump out all contents, clean the interior, filter the oil and retest the system.

03

Oil Line Supply & Installation

Corroded or leaking oil pipelines are a serious fire and environmental risk. We supply and install new armoured oil supply lines from tank to boiler.

04

Emergency Pump-Out

If your tank is leaking or you have an oil spill, we can respond quickly to pump out the tank and make the situation safe. What to do if your tank is leaking.

Signs Your Tank Needs Attention

  • Boiler cutting out frequently
  • Visible rust or discolouration on the tank
  • Oil smell near the tank or pipework
  • Low fuel gauge readings not matching expected consumption
  • Sludge in the fuel filter
  • Dripping or wet fittings around valves
  • Pipework that looks corroded or kinked

⚠ Why Regular Maintenance Matters

Oil tank maintenance is often overlooked until something goes wrong. A well-maintained tank and pipeline system will last significantly longer, reduce the risk of heating failure in cold weather, and keep your home insurance valid. Many policies require oil tanks to be in good condition.

Frequently Asked Questions

My oil line runs underground. How would I know if it is leaking?

Fuel use going up with no change in how you heat the house, a smell of oil along the pipe route, a line of dead grass between the tank and the house, or the boiler losing its oil supply. Older buried lines corrode, and we can replace them with a new armoured supply line.

My tank has been hit by a falling branch or damaged in a storm. What should I do?

Check the tank, base and fittings for splits, dents or oil on the ground, and look in the bund if it has one. If there is any sign of a leak, follow the steps on our leaking oil tank page and call us. Tell your insurer early too, as storm damage is often covered.

Do you look after tanks at holiday lets and rented homes in Norfolk?

Yes. A check before the heating season is worth it on any property where nobody is watching the tank day to day, because a weeping valve or water in the filter can go unnoticed for months. We are happy to deal with the owner or managing agent directly.

Which parts of Norfolk do you cover?
